With just a little over a month to go, Diablo 4 finally celebrates its release date. The story is placed further at the forefront this time around, too, and the small narrative teases shown in the Diablo 4 beta were enough to make me consider Lilith a formidable villain. I’m convinced that the game’s darker, more realistic tone, compared to Diablo 3, was the right decision. The Diablo 4 beta offered up a generous amount of content to dig into but smartly kept the level cap to just 25 so as to not give everything away. That said, having spent 3 to 4 hours playing as the Barbarian class, it was easy to see why Activision Blizzard looks to have a hit on its hands. I personally didn’t get to play as much of the Diablo 4 beta as I would have liked on PS5, primarily because Capcom’s recently released remake of Resident Evil 4 has eaten up much of my time. These can then be used in the full version of Diablo 4.
Reaching level 20 with one character, for example, will see players receive both the Initial Casualty and Early Voyager titles as well as the overly adorable Beta Wolf Pack cosmetic item. While it’s sad that the beta has to end at all, this does at least give players a bit more time to try out other character classes if they haven’t already and possibly even complete all three of the Diablo 4 beta’s handful of challenges. That means there are only a few more hours left to jump in before access is ripped away for good and players have to wait until the game’s official release later this year on June 6, 2023.
